While the small island of Sanibel is simply bursting with hotels and other accommodations, the glitziness that generally accompanies these sorts of places is not evident here. Indeed, Sanibel is lush and teeming with foliage. The nature that is abundant on Sanibel is best demonstrated at the J. N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge, a 5,000-acre tidal wetland. Also a popular destination here is the Sanibel Historical Village & Museum, whose displays go back to the island's beginnings. Sanibel is also a popular place for shopping and dining with stores, boutiques, and eateries easy to locate.
